Tree Small tree; branches sometimes thorn-like; leaves opposite, close together on short shoots; interpetiolar stipules with yellow colleters inside; leaves petiolate, obovate; apex truncate, mucronate; base acute or obtuse; petiole and lower leaf surfacea densely covered with hairs; upper leaf surface with short hairs, except longer hairs on veins; flowers solitary(?), sessile, terminal on short shoots; calyx tubular, with 16 narrow teeth, larger teeth alternating with smaller teeth; calyx densely hairy outside plus on inside surface of teeth; inside of tube glabrous; colleters on inside of calyx near apex of tube; corolla salver-shaped, whitish, turning yellow, densely covered with appressed hairs outside except at base of tube, which is glabrous; tube approximately 1 cm long; 8 obovate lobes, approximately 1.2 - 1.5 cm long, each with acuminate apex, hairy outside, with short hairs inside; corolla tube on inside near middle with dense ring of white hairs, glabrous below this ring; stamens 8, inserted between lobes of corolla, exsert, with very short filaments; ovary inferior, with 2 locules; style cylindrical, subfusiform, glabrous, with annular gland at base; stigma with 2 lobes; each locule with many ovules, placentatiion axile; fruit obovoid, covered with hairs.
