Shrub, dioecious; stem hairy; stipule linear, tapering, hairy, inside with pointed, shiny, smooth brown trichomes; leaves alternate, petiolate, bilobed, with 9 main veins; upper surface glabrous, lower surface and margins with hairs; inflorescence leaf-opposed raceme, staminate raceme erect, pistillate raceme horizontal or drooping; peduncle and pedicel hairy; staminate flower on short pedicel; pointed bract at base of pedicel; 2 pointed bracteoles attached approximately at middle of pedicel; calyx spathaceous; corolla of 5 free, ± elliptic pale yellow petals; stamens 10, fertile; pistillode small, hairy; flower bud fusiform, short hairs outside; pistillate flower pedicellate, with 2 bracteolesubtended by bract; calyx spathaceous; corolla of 5 free pale yellow petals; staminodes 10, small, very hairy on inside basal part of filament; ovary hairy; distinct style lacking; stigma peltate; flower bud fusiform.
