Descriptions : Tree, with thorns on trunk and branches; leaves alternate, palmately compound, with approximately 7 leaflets; leaflets with acuminate apex; flowers solitary, terminal, strong smelling; calyx tubular cup-shaped, very thick, splitting irregularly into approximate 4-5 lobes; outside of calyx green, glabrous, inside densely hairy with appressed silky hairs; petals 5, free, strap-shaped, approximately 9-10 cm long, reflexed, shortly pubescent inside and outside, cream colored with green and pinkish tinge (in bud, petals overlapping, green with white and pink); stamens basally connate into tube surrounding ovary, distally splitting into 5 branches, each branch separating into greater than 50 stamens; anthers U-shaped or curled; ovary densely covered with appressed red hairs; style filiform, red, glabrous; stigma dark red, with 5 lobes; ovary with 5 locules, each with many ovules; axile placentation.
