Descriptions : Shrub ; Small shrub; stems covered with hairs, both stellate and single; leaves alternate, petiolate, broadly transverse elliptic to circular to broadly elliptic, except generally with 3 lobes, an acute apical lobe and 2 acute lateral lobes; margin irregularly serrate-dentate; upper and lower leaf surfaces with stellate and single hairs; leaves (or bracts) with flowers in axils narrowing upwards on plant until linear; inflorescence terminal and in upper leaf axils; flower pedicellate; sepals 5, valvate, red, hairy on outer side; a green cylindrical appendage on outer side, below the apex, of each sepal; petals 5, yellow, free, narrowly obovate, with hairs on petal margin near base, on either side; stamens 10, free; filaments yellow, ±
thick; 5 small glands in a ring around stamens; ovary covered with ±
