Descriptions : Herb, with many radiating, ascending branches; stems with short, curved hairs; leaves alternate, simple, shortly petiolate, mostly narrowly elliptic, up to a length of approximately 4 cm; apex mucronate; margins entire; inflorescence: extra-axillary (or axillary) erect raceme; flowers pedicellate, subtended by one bract and 2 bracteoles, which are persistent at anthesis; calyx green with some dark red, 5 lobes, 2 of which are enlarged, falcate; all lobes with pointed dark red tips; corolla: 3 lobes adnate to staminal tube; 2 lateral lobes yellowish, lower lobe larger, boat-shaped, yellowish and greenish, outside with flattened yellow crest with many finger-like lobes; stamens monadelphous, filaments connate into tube, open at upper side; anthers 8; ovary flattened laterally, with hairs around the margins; style curved; stigma deflexed; fruit a laterally flattened capsule, with hairs around the margins; locules 2, each with one seed; seed brown, covered with white appressed hairs; caruncle 3-lobed.
