Descriptions : Herb ; several flowering stems emerging from main stem, stems more or less erect, at
least distally; flowering stems with leaves at nodes, 1 or more flowering branches; leaves
elongate, enclosing stem basally, with long marginal hairs near base; inflorescence a cyme;
flowers with articulate pedicels; 3 shiny, glabrous green sepals, overlapping in bud; 3 glabrous,
free purple petals; petals thin, ephemeral, the 2 lateral petals a little larger than the third upper
petal, petals overlapping in bud; 2 fertile stamens, filaments with long purple hairs on basal half,
anthers purple-white; 4 staminodes, filaments with long purple hairs on distal half, anthers
(probably sterile) with 3 flat, yellow lobes; ovary 3-lobed, glabrous, style filiform, glabrous,
stigma small, tuberculate apically; ovary 3-locular, with 2 or more superposed ovules per
locule.
