The School of Chemistry offers M. Sc. and Ph. D. programs in chemistry as follows:

Master Program
In general, there are two plans of Master program, Plan A and Plan B. Plan A is a thesis research program, consisting of Plan A (1) and Plan A (2). Plan A (1) is a thesis-only program while Plan A (2) comprises course work and thesis. Plan B is a non-thesis program. Both plans require a minimum of 45 credits. However, the School of Chemistry offers only Plan A(2).

Doctorate Program
For Doctorate Program, there are two types. Type 1 is a thesis-only program, whereas Type 2 consists of course work and thesis. Both types require a minimum of 90 credits for a Bachelor Degree holder and a minimum of 60 credits for a Master Degree holder.


ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

Master Degree Program:
  • Bachelor Degree of Science in Chemistry or in other related areas
  • Overall cumulative GPA of at least 2.50 or at least 2.00 with two
  •    years of working experience or at least 2.00 with GPA of 2.75 in
       major field

    Doctoral Degree Program:
  • Bachelor Degree of Science, with honors, in Chemistry or in other
       related areas or Master Degree of Science in Chemistry or in other
       related areas
  • Two letters of recommendation


  • Applicants are accepted for admission by selection through extensive evaluation of the applicant’s educational background, academic, and work experience together with written examination and interview as specified by the School of Chemistry.


    GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS

    Master Degree Program:
    Each student must
  • complete all of the required courses set by her/his study program 
       with a minimum GPA of 3.00
  • pass a comprehensive examination within 4 trimesters after her/his
       first enrollment
  • submit thesis and pass the oral examination
  • have a paper accepted for publication in a relevant journal or have
       an oral or poster presentation in a conference and published in the
       relevant proceeding.




    Doctoral Degree Program:
    Each student must
  • complete all of the required courses set by her/his study program,
       with a minimum GPA of 3.00
  • pass a qualifying examination within 6 trimesters after her/his first
       enrollment
  • satisfy English proficiency requirement
  • submit thesis and pass the oral examination
  • have a paper accepted for publication in a relevant journal.
